Canyon Lake Little League

Full and Partial Scholarship Request Form

~ PLEASE READ TO THE END ~

The Canyon Lake Little League Organization feels strongly about the positive impact of youth sports. Our program is for all children ages 4-14 years old. Our scholarship program provides full and partial financial assistance to children who otherwise would not be able to participate in our baseball/softball program. Scholarships are only available to cover the cost of league fees and do not cover any additional costs.

Those seeking a scholarship must explain the nature of the hardship and/or provide documentation supporting the request.

To be eligible for a scholarship, the following information must be provided to Canyon Lake Little League:

  • An explanation of why you are requesting a scholarship

  • Documentation demonstrating an immediate hardship such as: medical issue, unemployment, most recent tax return or written documentation of an approved current participation in an assistance program such as: food stamps, SSI, etc.

  • Proof of CLLL boundry residency (ex. –  DL, utility bill, car registration, car insurance, etc.)

  • Proof of player’s age (birth certificate)

Application information will be kept completely confidential and only review by the Executive Board members and snack bar organizer/manager. Information will NOT be shared with anyone else.

Before submitting the scholarship request form to Canyon Lake Little League, parents and/or guardians should understand the following:

  • The scholarship eligibility requirements

  • The scholarship review period turnaround time (up to 3-5 days)

  • Forms need to be completely filled out, no exceptions (detailed instructions are included with the form below)

  • Contact the CLLL Scholarship Director with questions

IMPORTANT: If you are approved for a scholarship you will be expected to repay the league with one or a combination of the following:

  • Volunteer 1 hour for every $10 in scholarship money granted. There are many volunteer hour opportunities, not just limited to snack bar shifts, the league will provide you with volunteer options. Note - this volunteer time is in addition to what you are expected to do for your childs team. Your volunteer hours worked will not count towards both, they are separate.

  • Obtain a sponsorship for our league. Sponsorships must add up to the value of scholarship your child is granted.

  • Obtain raffle gift donations for any of our events. Donations must add up to the value of scholarship your child is granted.

  • Note a combination of the above can be obtained…ex. $100 raffle gift for an event + 5 hours ($50) of volunteer time = $150 scholarship.

  • IMPORTANT … If you fail to uphold the above repay requirements you may not apply for a scholarship in the future.

FAQ’s:

  • The scholarship program was established to assist families of baseball with financial hardships. For players that meet the eligibility requirements, league fees for the season in question are paid fully or partially by Canyon Lake Little League.

  • Scholarships are neither permanent nor automatically renewed every year. Scholarships expire at the end of each season. Requests for scholarships must be made in each season.  Applications must meet the scholarship eligibility requirements.

  • In financial hardship cases, a scholarship may be requested for each child in your family that wants to play baseball. The Scholarship Committee will examine the needs and make a decision on the scope (full or partial) of the scholarship award(s).

  • If you have been given a scholarship in the past or present that does not prevent future scholarship requests. The circumstances (financial hardships, etc) noted in the request are evaluated with every request (re-evaluated if it is a repeated request). The scholarship eligibility requirements still must be satisfied in all cases.

  • All scholarships are judged on their own merit. Depending on the circumstances, the scholarship award may be full or it may be partial. The Scholarship Committee will make that determination.

  • If your child currently participates in any type of travel/club baseball/softball team or is taking private baseball/softball lessons of any sort they are not eligible for a scholarship. If a scholarship is granted and the league finds out they are involved in any of the above the scholarship will immediately be revoked and you will be expected to pay the league in full for their league fees.

Note: After completing this application you will be given a code to fully register your player(s).  This is NOT player registration this is the scholarship application process.  Your child will not be placed on a team until your scholarship application is complete and submitted in full and THEN the player registration is done from our website.
